Station 1 of 7

Gethsemane

The Garden of Agony

"And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."
— Luke 22:44

In the darkness of the garden, our Savior faced the weight of all humanity's sin. Alone, He chose to drink the cup the Father had given Him.

Station 2 of 7

The Scourging

By His Stripes

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
— Isaiah 53:5

Many lashes tore His flesh. Every wound was for our healing. Every stripe absorbed our pain.

Station 3 of 7

The Crown of Thorns

Mocked as King

"And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!"
— Matthew 27:29

They crowned Him in mockery. Yet He is indeed the King of Kings, wearing thorns so we might wear crowns of glory.

Station 4 of 7

Via Dolorosa

The Way of Suffering

"And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha."
— John 19:17

Step by agonizing step, He carried the instrument of His death. The weight of the cross was nothing compared to the weight of our sin He bore.

Station 5 of 7

Golgotha

It Is Finished

"When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
— John 19:30

Three words that changed eternity. The debt was paid. The work was complete. The sacrifice was accepted.

Station 6 of 7

The Tomb

Three Days of Silence

"And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed."
— Matthew 27:60

In the darkness of the tomb, death itself was being conquered. The seed was planted. The promise was kept.

Station 7 of 7

The Resurrection

He Is Risen

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."
— Matthew 28:6

The stone is rolled away. The tomb is empty. Death has been swallowed up in victory. He is risen indeed!

He is not dead. He is risen!
